Spectacle Island, Boston Harbor
Join us for the third annual Spectacle Island 5K, Kids Fun Run & 3K Walk, brought to you by the Boston Harbor Island Alliance. Enjoy panoramic views of Boston Harbor and the city from this historic island. Race day festivities feature a 5K Race, a half-mile Kids Fun Run, 3K Walk, picnic lunch for participants, music, and kids' activities.
New in 2013:
- Technical shirts to first 300 5K race registrants. T-shirts to first 50 Harbor Walk registrants and first 75 Kids Fun Run registrants.
- New event ferry service to/from Hingham Shipyard
In Case of Inclement Weather...
This is a rain or shine event. However, park officials, ferry transportation providers and race management have the authority to cancel the event for emergency purposes such as, but not limited to, severe inclement weather, to ensure public safety. If such emergency conditions force cancellation, the event entry fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, as funds will have been spent in preparation for the event. However, registrants would be sent a complimentary ferry ticket to travel to the Boston Harbor Islands on their own at a future date; t-shirts would be mailed to applicable event participants; and spectator ferry tickets would be refunded.
SPECIAL UPDATE FOR EVENT ATTENDEES: The following message was sent to all registrants with email at 5pm on 6/7/2013.
Thank you for registering for the Spectacle Island events this Saturday. In typical New England fashion, tomorrow’s forecast calls for both rain and sun – bring your raincoat and sunglasses! At this time, we plan to continue with all events as scheduled:
• 5K race to start at 9:30am
• Kids Fun Run to start at 10:45am
• 3K Walk to start at 11am.
Note to participants departing from Long Wharf: we are consolidating the 8am and 8:15am ferry into one larger ferry departing at 8:15am. If you were confirmed for an 8am ferry, expect to be on the 8:15am ferry. Should any ferries take longer than normal to reach Spectacle Island, we will delay the start of each event until the ferry arrives and you can check in at Registration near the Visitor Center.
At this time, we cannot change any return ferry departure times. Should you wish to leave Spectacle Island on an earlier ferry than on your ticket, you may do so on a stand-by basis. We will make all attempts to accommodate you.

A Word About Strollers, Bicycles, Inline Skates and Pets!
Please note: there is limited space for strollers on the ferry. Strollers must fold up and are not allowed during the events. Bicycles and inline skates are not permitted on the island. Pets are not allowed, except for service dogs.
